A Call to Prayer

A house divided against itself cannot stand. — Abraham Lincoln

Today, I want to address the escalating tensions that are rocking America. To my brothers and sisters in Christ who are apolitical I only ask that you hear me out. I promise to conclude this post with a spiritually relevant observation.

Readers of this blog know that I am a conservative. The radical left hates people like me. They hate my faith and they hate my politics. One of their weapons — quite effective, actually — is to simply smear the opposition. One way they do this is by hurling insults. If you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth so they label their opponents as racist, sexist, homophobic, and misogynist until it sticks in people’s minds and becomes their reality.

As I’ve noted before these tactics are right out of the leftist playbook, Rules for Radicals. The author, Saul Alinsky, influenced the politics of people like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton who wrote that conflict is the route to power.

This echoes Alinsky’s thoughts that a community organizer should be abrasive, inciting resentment and hostility, an agitator to the point of conflict.

The Democrat Party, at least in my lifetime, has adopted these principles in order to gain and hold power. They incite class warfare on a variety of fronts — sex, race, age, income and, more recently, gender identity. These tactics are intended to divide the country, and create a power base from which Democrats can rule in these Divided States of America.

A young woman, speaking on a university campus, said:

There will be casualties. Unfortunately, people must die in order to effect change.

I guess she took Obama’s change theme to the extreme. Christian, you can hide your head in the sand for so long, but this is the face of evil. This young woman is an Obama-baby who represents the base of the Democrat Party.

Have you heard of Antifa? DisruptJ20? DC Welcoming Committee?

Antifa (antifascist) is a worldwide movement that organizes protest marches against the establishment (Western, capitalist democracies). They are known for wearing masks and inciting violent resistance through a diversity of tactics. You saw them marching in front of the Trump hotel on Inauguration Day.

DisruptJ20 is an organization that pre-planned many of the nationwide marches against President Trump. (What appeared on the nightly news as spontaneous protests were events organized before Trump took the oath of office.)

DC Welcoming Committee is a branch of the national Welcoming Committee. With offices in cities across the country it is a LGBTQ activist organization that participated in the protest marches on Inauguration Day. That explains the gay protesters I saw kissing in front of the Trump International Hotel on Pennsylvania Ave.

Antifa and DisruptJ20 were involved in the violent protests at Berkeley which resulted in the cancellation of speeches by conservative pundits such as Milo Yiannopoulos (senior editor at the conservative Breitbart News).

Yiannopoulos was especially targeted because he is homosexual. Aren’t liberals the defenders of gay people? This is the deception that lies at the core of liberalism. If you are a conservative member of any one of the designated oppressed classes you are an even greater threat to the liberal agenda, and must be silenced.

Ask yourself this: Who are the fascists?

Recall Madonna’s profanity-laced speech at the Women’s March where she blurted out that she often thought of blowing up the White House. It was an inciteful thing to say prompting an investigation by the Secret Service and FBI.

More recently, Kathy Griffin made headlines for posting that very disturbing photo. (No further comment is necessary.)

Conservatives (and Christians) are excoriated for the most innocent of offenses. The double-standard and hypocrisy is numbing to my soul. Then Griffin had the gall to stage a photo-op with her lawyer claiming that she was the victim.

At the pre-election debate, Donald Trump was asked if he would accept the results of the election, and was crucified for his uncommitted response. Democrats have refused to accept that Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. They have behaved like temperamental infants, and will not be satisfied with anything less than impeachment.

For months the public has been fed a steady diet of anti-Trump rhetoric. It has become an obsession of the mainstream media to defame, belittle, libel, slander, malign, smear, vilify, besmirch, disparage, and discredit this President.

Hillary lost the election because of her policies, and in the end she resorted to mudslinging. The media picked up Clinton’s fumble, and has continued pushing the negative stereotype. Push the negative hard enough, taught Alinsky, and it becomes the reality.

Let’s stop here for a moment and consider these things in light of the shooting at the Republican softball practice. The shooter reportedly was a volunteer on the Bernie Sanders campaign. He posted anti-Trump propaganda on his Facebook page, and allegedly asked if the softball team was Democrat or Republican before opening fire.

There is a civil war (small letter “c”) raging in this nation. The Republicans didn’t start it, nor did the Christians. It is fueled and flamed by leftist activists who are intolerant of anyone who resists their imposition of an ideology that is anti-Christian, anti-Constitution, anti-capitalist, and anti-democratic.

The Democrat Party is complicit. The politics of division breeds discontent which is sometimes manifested in violent protest.

Young people, idealistic by nature, have been so indoctrinated by leftist ideology that they are emotionally incapable of even hearing contrary views. I fear for a nation where colleges and universities have to provide safe-rooms (stocked with Play-Doh, crayons, coloring books, and bubbles) to sooth the angst of students who panic whenever they hear the name Donald Trump.

The Spiritual Lesson

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

I did not vote for Barack Obama, and disagreed with his policies. He was wrong on health care, abortion, and gay marriage. I did, however, pray for President Obama (as I do for President Trump.) It is the Christian’s duty to pray for our leaders.

We are not like the zealots who expected Jesus Christ to take up arms against the Romans. We are non-violent and peacefully resist. We do not wear masks, throw bottles, break storefront windows, overturn cars, nor set fire to emergency vehicles. We respect the office of the President — as Kathy Griffin once lectured Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

And we pray.

May you pour out your Holy Spirit upon this nation for restoration and revival.

May you strengthen our families, and protect our children.

May you heal this nation of its spiritual ills which are manifested in social strife, cultural malaise, moral decline, political violence, and financial bankruptcy.

May you lift up America unto Thy glory, and as a witness unto all the nations.

In the blessed name of Jesus.

The Pope Agrees with Al Gore

In 2015 Pope Francis issued an encyclical letter supporting the Paris Agreement on climate control. The Vatican officially positioned the Church on the side of environmental activism. This week the Pope stated his concerns about the Trump Administration’s reversal of Obama-era policies regarding global warming.

While I believe that mankind needs to be a responsible caretaker of earth’s natural resources — conservatives like clean air and water, too — we need to look deeper into the forces that are behind the environmental movement, and whether the Pope’s sympathies are misguided.

Let me just say that I honestly believed that fossil fuels would have been a dying industry by the year 2000. I imagined hydrogen fueled automobiles, and solar panels atop every home and business. This is a an achievable goal if we had the same commitment that landed men on the moon. A national policy of energy independence would spur technological innovation and economic growth while contributing to a cleaner environment.

Having said that we need to examine more closely the genesis of environmental activism. As of this writing we are just a few weeks out from Earth Day. Several years ago there was a featured article on the official Earth Day website titled, Let Capitalism Die.

Today’s movement was essentially born out of the anti-war protests of the 1960’s. A number of radicalized isms including feminism morphed into a global resistance to the socio-economic dominance of western, capitalist democracies; and it wasn’t particularly accepting of Christianity which makes the Pope’s alignment somewhat disturbing. Environmentalism is not only socialism, but it is a religion. As such, America was cast as the scapegoat upon which all the sins of the world were assigned.

In the 1970’s, Ralph Nader and Carl Sagan were the public face of the environmental movement. TIME and Newsweek published cover stories warning of catastrophic climate change due to industrial pollution.

TIME covered the drought and famine in Africa; record rains that caused flooding in the United States, Pakistan and Japan; shortened harvest seasons in Canada; and cooler temperatures that suggested a global climatic upheaval. The magazine quoted a climatologist who warned that, if current trends continued, the earth could not sustain its current population. It concluded that man is the reason for the changing weather.

Preceding this crisis was a deep-freeze which caused record cold temperatures and snowfall across Canada and the Northeast in what meteorologists dubbed the winter from hell (1966).

A decade later TIME issued a dire warning of the coming ice age. Within 20 years the Northeast would be uninhabitable and New York City glaciated.

Newsweek warned of a grim reality if we didn’t find a way of coping with dramatic climate changes. Shortened growing seasons would lead to mass starvation by 1980. The magazine attributed devastating storms such as tornadoes and hurricanes to changing weather patterns caused by man’s contamination of the environment.

That was then … this is now.

In 2006, the documentary film An Inconvenient Truth was released. It re-energized the environmental movement which had lost credibility after the dire warnings of the 70’s did not come to pass.

New York City was not an iceberg, but man-made carbon emissions were now blamed for global warming. Elevated levels of CO2, thirty years earlier, supposedly caused global cooling by deflecting solar radiation. Carbon dioxide acted like a shield blocking the sun’s warmth from entering the earth’s atmosphere. In 2006, it was like a blanket trapping the sun’s heat thus causing a rise in global temperatures.

It was evident that climate change was not so much scientific theory as it was political doctrine. To save the earth, governments had to enact regulations curbing their nation’s carbon footprint. Seemingly, the rules did not apply to the guru of climate awareness Al Gore whose utility bill was 30 times higher than the average person — not to mention that one trip in his private jet was the equivalent of adding 20 cars to the roadway.

We can’t ignore the political angle of global warming. The Heritage Foundation concluded that the implementation of the Paris Protocol would have devastating economic costs and zero environmental benefits. It would essentially un-develop the industrialized world.

There is a brown cloud that perpetually hangs over the Himalayas. Was it caused by developed countries burning fossil fuels? No, but by the tribal people who inhabit the Indian subcontinent and Tibetan Plateau.

Let’s now turn to the geological evidence. Meteorologists typically compare weather charts that are only hundreds of years old. Geologists, on the other hand, examine evidence that is millions of years old.

In the 20th century, for example, the decade of the 90’s was not the hottest on record. The 1930’s posted record high temperatures, but when was the last time the earth was really hot? That would be during the Medieval Warming Period 1,000 years ago. Human civilization prospered by today’s standards due in part to the longer growing seasons.

The error made by global warming theorists is in the measurement of CO2. Do elevated levels cause warming, or cooling? Forty years ago carbon dioxide was stored in the oceans. Today, it is concentrated in the atmosphere. The earth cycles through periods of shifting weather patterns. These cycles are influenced by wind, ocean currents and precipitation.

Evaporation is a process similar to perspiration. The earth has an internal regulator much like the human body — an amazing design when you think about it. Our planet goes through natural cycles of freezing and thawing. Man’s impact is negligible. Humans contribute .001% of the CO2 that is measured in the atmosphere, and it is not even the primary greenhouse gas. What is?

Water. There is 30 times more water vapor in the atmosphere than CO2. Ocean currents and wind patterns determine where the vapor falls as precipitation. Humidity has a greater effect on temperature than does carbon dioxide.

As the earth cycles through periods of warming and cooling it is CO2 that is affected. In cooler conditions the gas is stored in the ocean; but when the earth warms the gas is released into the atmosphere. It is a reactant not a causal agent. Think of it in terms of a bottle of carbonated soda. What happens to the carbonation when you open a cold bottle and leave it on the counter overnight?

The inconvenient truth was, that after the movie’s release, the winter of 2007-08 recorded the coldest temperatures and snowfall since the winter from hell. No problem for Al Gore who simply explained that cold weather was caused by global warming. Understandable from a student who got a “D” in Physical Science.

TIME and Newsweek were partially correct. The last Ice Age occurred 12,000 years ago, and the earth is overdue. There have been 16 warming cycles during the interval known as the Interglacial Period. The earth is essentially thawing out from the last deep-freeze. For only 20% of earth’s geologic history have there been polar ice caps. The Arctic and Antarctic are still recovering from the last glacial period.

The alarmists, and their pseudoscience, would have you believe that melting ice caps is a looming environmental catastrophe. Why is there oil in Alaska? Because the Arctic region was once a veritable Garden of Eden — for dinosaurs, that is.

I wrote about this extensively a decade ago, but presented here only a brief outline for you to consider. This topic will heat up once again at the summer release of An Inconvenient Truth Sequel.

In the meantime, another Earth Day will have come and gone. It is the most popular secular holiday in the world, and idolatrous in its virtual worship of the planet. Not unlike the ancient pagan rites that celebrated the gods of the Spring and Winter solstice.

That the Pope would align the Church with this humanistic movement should be a cause for alarm to those of us who worship the Creator — not the creature.

George Carlin

Let me tell you about endangered species, all right? Saving endangered species is just one more arrogant attempt by humans to control nature. It’s arrogant meddling. It’s what got us in trouble in the first place. Doesn’t anyone understand that? Interfering with nature. Over 90%, way over 90% of all the species that have ever lived on this planet, ever lived, are gone. They’re extinct. We didn’t kill them all. They just disappeared. That’s what nature does. We’re so self-important, so self-important. Everybody is going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save those snails. And the greatest arrogance of all, save the planet. What?!

I’m tired of these self-righteous environmentalists, these white bourgeois liberals who think the only thing wrong with this country is there aren’t enough bicycle paths, people trying to make the world safe for their Volvos. There is nothing wrong with the planet. Nothing wrong with the planet. The planet is fine. The people are (messed) up — difference, difference. The planet is fine. Compared to the people, the planet is doing great. It’s been here four and a half billion years. We’ve only been engaged in heavy industry for a little more than 200 years.

Two hundred years versus four and a half billion, and we have the conceit to think somehow we’re a threat, that somehow we’re going to put in jeopardy this beautiful little blue-green ball that’s just a-floatin’ around the sun? The planet has gone through a lot worse than us, been through all kinds of things worse than us, been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sunspots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles, hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages, and we think some plastic bags and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference?

The planet isn’t going anywhere. We are! We’re going away.

Immigrant Elector Defends Trump

Ash Khare came to the United States in search of the American dream. With $8.00 to his name, the college educated immigrant took out a loan to buy an airplane ticket to the States.

Khare realized that, in order to be successful, he had to assimilate into the culture. He earned an engineering degree while working in a grocery store where he learned how to be an American.

A Republican elector since 1996, the Pennsylvania resident cast his vote in Monday’s Electoral College.

Recall in the final debate with Hillary Clinton, Trump was asked if he would accept the result of the election and he answered that he would have to wait and see. His response elicited a scathing rebuke from Clinton that Trump had no respect for the American electoral system.

[As we noted in an earlier post, Trump was saying — but they weren’t listening — that he only wanted to keep open his options. No different than Al Gore who conceded to George W. Bush in 2000 only to withdraw his concession over the hanging chads.]

Ironic, since Election Day, all we have heard from the Left is that Clinton won the popular vote, Trump is illegitimate, the Russians hacked the election and the Electoral College needs to be repealed. Which side has refused to accept the results of the election? I think liberal pollsters need a refresher course in math and statistical analysis. Just as they predicted a Clinton landslide in the general election, the prognosticators suggested that upwards of 60 electors might switch their votes. After the fact it was shown that these 60 votes were already in Hillary’s camp. To whom would they switch?

But the libs are all about diversion and deceit. The New York Times paraded an elector from Texas who supposedly was going to switch his vote from Trump to Hillary. Chris Suprun was lauded as a 9/11 responder — a real stand-up guy — that is, until WFAA (Dallas) exposed the conscientious elector as a scoundrel and fraud.

Look at the concentration of red (Republican) states compared to the clusters of blue (Democrat) states. Illegal immigration contributed to Democrat control in the West as the party retained pockets of influence from the Great Lakes to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

If the nation does not have the will to secure its southern border then, within the next 50 years, Democrats will dominate the West making an electoral victory difficult, if not impossible, for the Republicans. This is the insidious reason Democrats want an open border — why they support the Gay Mafia and abortion — and if you dare to challenge them they will seek to destroy you as a racist, sexist, homophobe.

These are the destabilizing tactics taught by the original community organizer, Saul Alinsky, in his leftist playbook, Rules for Radicals (1971). Knowing that liberals cannot win on the issues, they are instructed to throw mud, and stir up emotions. Alinsky perfected the art of liberal fascism otherwise known as the Progressive Deception.

The attempted assassination of Donald Trump’s character should tell you all you need to know about the Clinton machine, and their complicit operatives in the media, academia and entertainment. For every woman they rolled out to discredit Trump, there were a greater number to defend him. When Trump visited my town the line to the convention hall was two blocks long, and most of them were women. According to the media women hated Trump.

Hillary, that self-proclaimed champion of women’s rights unless, of course, those women were victims of her own husband. The Clinton’s reportedly spent $100,000 (1992) to investigate the women who had come forward with allegations against then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton. Gennifer Flowers, whom Hillary called trailer trash, claimed to have had a 12-year affair with Bill.

Where were the feminist groups? Where was the National Organization for Women? Where was the outrage?

I am so sick and tired of liberals. I am sick and tired of their phony compassion. Liberalism thrives on dependency. Indeed, it strives to create the condition of dependency by keeping, for example, black Americans enslaved in poverty. And what of that bedrock supporter of the Democrat Party — organized labor? Since 1996, the second term of Bill Clinton, America has lost upwards of 70,000 factories (or five million jobs).

*NAFTA went into effect in 1994. (Remember Ross Perot warning about the giant gushing sound of jobs leaving the country?)

In his native dialect Khare told reporters:

There are two things in life. One kind of things that offend you, and one kind of things that affect you. Hillary Clinton was involved in those things that offend you. Her television commercials were Trump said this, Trump said that. What Donald Trump was talking about — issues that affect the people. The jobs, the illegal immigrants. He talked about the tax rates. He talked about the current state of the economy and foreign affairs.

Khare said he received 17,000 phone calls and 6,000 emails from Democrat activists who were trying to persuade him to change his vote. Who’s interfering with the electoral process?

Vladimir Putin is beating his chest and grinning from ear to ear:

The current administration and the leadership of the Democratic Party are trying to blame all their failures on external factors. Outstanding figures in American history from the ranks of the Democratic Party would likely be turning in their graves. Roosevelt certainly would be. They are losing on all fronts and looking elsewhere for things to blame. In my view this, how shall I say it, degrades their own dignity. You have to know how to lose with dignity.

Ash Khare would be a poster child for the Democrat Party except for the fact he is a legal immigrant who did not play the victim, but achieved success by doing it the old-fashioned way — hard work.

Democrats say you can’t do it by yourself — that you need the government; but that’s not the attitude that built this great nation. Of course, the Democrat Party consists of a generation, or so, of voting-age sycophants who were raised in a culture where there were no winners or losers (’cause that would hurt the other person’s feelings); and you got a passing grade just for showing up (’cause we don’t want to mark down underachievers).

No wonder Hillary’s supporters are having a breakdown. And isn’t it interesting that an Indian immigrant has to teach the Democrats what it means to be an American.

For now, Trump has won twice — the general election on November 8 … the Electoral College on December 19 — but there remains the official certification on January 6 when Congress meets to tally the votes of the electors. In the meantime, may I share with you the wisdom of that renowned philosopher Yogi Berra, “It ain’t over ’till it’s over”.
